Research

As the chairman of the Department of Computer Science in 1986/87 he initiated and headed the work to focus the departments research and defining research groups. The main uniting theme became systems research on distributed systems.

His current research is systems and architecture research with emphasis on High Performance Distributed Systems.

Distributed and Parallel Robot System

Together with others he have developed a distributed and parallel robot system using Lego Mindstorm robots, laptops, camera, projector, and a cluster. It is used for teaching and research.

He has developed and taught many university courses at all levels from beginner to Ph.D.

He has advised many Ph.D., master (cand. real., cand. scient., diplom),  cand. mag., and undergraduate students.

Operating System Competition Benchmark

Together with Lars Ailo Bongo he has developed a benchmark used in the OS competition held in the OS courses at Tromsø and Oslo.
