The Longcut WAN Emulator

The design, implementation, precision, and scalability of Longcut are described in Technical Report 2005-53. Also, the technical report describes the network topology and provides statistics for the different latency-bandwidth traces.

The following latency-bandwidth time series are available:
  1. NWS trace . Duration: one week and one hour (18.05.2004 - 25.05.2004). Sample rate: 60 seconds.
  2. EventSpace trace with Nagle algorithm turned off . Duration: about 30 minutes. Sample rate: about 75 milliseconds.
  3. EventSpace trace with Nagle algorithm on . Duration: about 30 minutes. Sample rate: about 75 milliseconds.

All trace files have one latency and bandwidth measurement per line. Each line has the following parts: (i) record number, (ii) latency timestamp, (iii) two-way TCP/IP latency in milliseconds, (iv) bandwidth in Mbits/sec timestamp, (v) bandwidth.

The timestamps are in cycles. Refer to the technical report for the clock frequency of the different nodes.
