Here are some images of the sun appearance and disappearance during the last years. Part of StormCast project:

• The SUN is back again

  The official day of the sun apperance is January 21. However the day when we actually can observe the first slice of the sun may vary a lot due to weather conditions.

  • 1995 Image taken January 26 at 12:30: (big JPG).
  • 1996 Image taken January 23 at 12:27: (big JPG).
  • 1997 Image taken January 25 at 12:30: (big JPG).
  • 1998 Image taken February 1 at 12:00: (big JPG).
  • 1999 This year we actually got a small glimpse of the sun on the official day of the sun appearance in Tromsų. The sun is highest on the horizon at 11:44, but because of the mountain, we can't see it. This image was taken January 21 at 12:30: (big JPG).
  • 2000 The first sunlight in year 2000 came Monday January 24 at 12:30: (big JPG).
  • 2001 In year 2001 the first sun glimpse came Monday January 22 at 12:30: (big JPG).
  • 2002 In year 2002 the first view of the sun was on Sunday January 20 at 1230. This is one day before the official "return of the sun" day: (big JPG).

• The SUN has left us again

  • 1994 This is probably the last day we could see the sun. Image taken November 16 at 12:30: (big JPG).
  • 1995 Due to bad weather the last image was taken November 3 at 12:00: (big JPG).
  • 1996 Image taken November 12 at 12:15: (big JPG).
  • 1997 Image taken November 19 at 12:00: (big JPG).
  • 1998 Image taken November 19 at 12:00: (big JPG).
  • 1999 This was probably the last time we could see the sun this year. Image taken November 17 at 12:15: (big JPG).
  • 2000 The last glimpse of the sun occured at November 18 at 12:00: (big JPG).
  • 2001 Due to cloudy weather conditions the last sun occured at November 05 at 12:15. We had a good day on November 18 too, but I couldn't find any sun images on that day: (big JPG).
