The Tacoma project

TACOMA Applicability

In TACOMA, we also focus on agent applicability. We have built several agent-based distributed applications using TACOMA. Our hope is to demonstrate potential for its applicability through some real and concrete examples.

In particular, we are using agents in StormCast. For instance, we use TACOMA agents to meta tag satellite images on a daily basis. The meta field you see (area/weather type) for the 4 places listed (including North Cape) here, are based on agent computing. This is the result from a TACOMA agent shipped over to the data server containing the raw data used to produce the satellite image on the same page.

Another example is to ship a TACOMA agent from your browser. First, you import the agent code, then you ship it into the remote Arctic StormCast server for processing. This happens without any local TACOMA support.

Try a TACOMA agent fetching latest weather.
