TACOMA Software Distribution
TACOMA has been in public domain since September 1995.
The system has registered users in 15 different countries, but the
system has
been pulled over to almost 100 sites world-wide so far.
We recommend that TACOMA users
register. The objective is
to have an interactive group of TACOMA users. Hence, all users are put on a
mailing-list (tacoma-users@cs.uit.no) so TACOMA information can be easily
shared.
Software
- TACOMA v1.2 (April 1996):
Offers better portability and is much more stable than v1.1. It
supports multiple programming languages: C, Tcl/Tk, Perl, Python and
Scheme (Elk). In addition, this TACOMA version can be installed in a World
Wide Web environment by adding the following:
- The tac_web agent is used to
make a TACOMA site accessible
through a web interface. By installing this (perl CGI-bin) script at the
server, clients (without any TACOMA support) can ship TACOMA agents to the
server.
- The client does not have to install any additional software. However,
the client must fill in a HTML form with TACOMA agent code and parameters.
To support this process, this TACOMA
script can be used.
- TACOMA v1.1 (January 1996):
Based on UNIX and TCP. It support agents written in both
Tcl/TK and C. Also includes a very simple security mechanism. Some manual pages are missing.
- TACOMA v1.0.1 (September 1995):
Based on UNIX and Tcl-TCP. It support agents written in
Tcl/TK.
